Good nutrition prevents problems of malnutrition and obesity. Good nutrition should begin in childhood with exclusive breastfeeding for the first six (6) months of life. After this, children should be taught to eat properly and eat all food groups. There are many diets that claim to be healthy. The truth is that the most important thing is that it is balanced, that it includes all the food groups (carbohydrates, fats, proteins, vitamins and minerals) and the amount necessary to give the energy that the body requires to function. The latter is measured in calories. In addition, you must have enough vitamins and minerals. When buying food, you should look at the nutrition label and healthy products, in general, should not have industrial (trans) fat, the percentage of salt should be below 6%. Artificially sweetened beverages are not healthy for the body. We are analyzing, in this administration, the possibility of putting a more practical labeling so that the population knows which foods have high levels of salt, sugar, fat, etc. and so you can choose, with knowledge, the foods you prefer to consume. I think, personally, that it would be a good state policy to reduce the prevalence of diseases caused by poor lifestyle such as high blood pressure, diabetes, many types of cancers, etc. In general, sugar intake should be limited to less than 40g / day (10 teaspoons), salt at 5g / day (1 teaspoon). As for fats, these should be maximum 30% of total calories and should be based on unsaturated fats (present in nuts such as nuts, avocado, fish, sunflower) and avoid excess animal fat and butter ( Saturated fats). Trans fats, present in canned foods, should be avoided to the fullest. You should also eat fibers daily and eat fruits, vegetables and grains in all food portions. If you are going to eat in restaurants, choose one that is clean and that the appearance of the workers is adequate. Avoid adding salt to food and avoid «refills» of drinks, if you choose to drink these.
